Soccer Gear for Zambia is American soccer-families helping out players in Zambia. 2018 was the second successive year that equipment were gathered in the USA to be shipped to Zambia. 2017 match-kits to over 20 teams were sent along with about 100 pair of shoes and 200 balls. The equipment were distributed mainly in Lusaka but beneficiaries was among others, Rural Sports Foundation players.
2018 the shipments main target was Petauke. The collection was a great success as we secured matchkits for about 800 kids, over 200 balls and 60 shoes! The shipment arrived in the beginning of November and is of great use in our daily activities as well as our Ligi Yatus. The shipment is a great booster for our Social football project as we are striving to give more kids the possibility to play football in rural areas. We are happy that we also was able to share this big shippment to organizations in 6 provinces.
Behind the Soccer Gear for Zambia movement is our great friend Laura Stukel. Laura started the initiative when she found this great opportunity for American families to reach out to their fellow Zambians and what impact that could give. In the collection both private persons and organizations is involved to gather both used and new equipment that is not used in the US anymore. One of the great sponsors to this initiative is AYSO in Elmhurst, Illinois who have made it possible for the initiative to become such an success! AYSO is a nationwide youth soccer organization in USA.
If you would like to join the movement and donate some equipment, check out Soccer gear for Zambia on Facebook.
So far has Soccer Gear for Zambia mostly been active in and around Elmhurst, but through the Facebook page they are now reaching out for more collection-initiatives within USA. So if you are interested, find all the information on Facebook or send them an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
